Best Gaming Laptop: Pros and Cons
So as you can see from the specs above, both the laptops are very powerful, can perform well in video editing tasks, and can run almost any game in the market right now! The Dell is a 7th generation Quad-Core i7 whereas the Asus is an 8th generation (the latest) Hexa Core i5, which means the ASUS is slightly slower than the Dell but can handle multi-tasking better because it has 6 cores instead of Dell’s 4. In all other departments, Dell beats ASUS.
Dell Inspiron has more RAM, a much faster full SSD hard disk whereas the ASUS has a bigger, but slower (compared to Dell) SSHD Firecuda hard disk. (SSHD stands for Solid State Hybrid Drive. It boots from the SSD, but other functions uses a normal HDD. It’s slower than SSD’s but faster than traditional hard drives). DELL also has a slightly better graphics card (4gb GTX 1050) than the ASUS (2gb GTX 1050). The 1050 from Nvidia can run almost any game in the market you throw at it right now. It’s one of the most powerful graphics card out there.
Both the laptops have full keyboards with separate numpads and both are easy and comfortable to type on. They both are backlit so that you can see the keys in the dark. Battery timing is approximately the same for both. They’ll last up to 6 hours on low-moderate usage. Looks-wise, we felt that ASUS is better, as it has a nice gaming look with red touch, whereas DELL isn’t very flashy and looks like a normal corporate, decent laptop. Both are highly recommended, depending on your budget.
So in short:
- Dell is Faster with more RAM, better graphics card, and faster hard drive
- ASUS has a better-gen processor, slower but larger hard drive, better at multi-tasking, cheaper and lighter
